The new owner of Kaiser Kuhn Lighting says the company plans to integrate the upscale lamp supplier into its leather furniture mix and offer retailers a coordinated statement in furniture and accessories.

Leather upholstery supplier Classic Leather, based here, said it purchased 100 percent of the stock of Kaiser Kuhn Lighting, based in nearby Maiden, N.C. Executives said Classic Leather plans to introduce the lamp line as a Classic division in the company’s new showroom at the High Point home furnishings market, which runs from October 19 to 27.

Kaiser Kuhn founders Jo Kuhn and Bill Kuhn are expected to retire, although they will probably remain on during the market. Gerald Tuttle, vice chairman of Classic Leather and a 20-year veteran of the company, has taken over as president of the new lamp division.

Classic Leather president Tom Shores said Kaiser Kuhn’s line of 18th century lamps and decorative accessories complements Classic’s traditionally styled line.

Kaiser Kuhn manufacturers lamps and accessories in porcelain, brass and handpainted wood in its facility in Maiden, N.C. Its customers are primarily furniture stores and high-end specialty stores.

Classic Leather, its new lamp division and its Pennsylvania Classic and Statesville Chair divisions will exhibit their lines in larger showroom space in the new, three-story 309 N. Hamilton building in High Point that replaces an older, much smaller building that was torn down. The new building is due to be completed by market, which begins Oct. 19.
